Sunday Video: Why Study Science?

This week's video is a 1955 educational film in which parents explain to their son and daughter should study science. Yep, even young Betty whose ambition is to "hook a man." (about 5 minutes in) She can use science to do a better job keeping house! She could have a career as a laboratory technician! Some women even know as much science as men do!

While I strongly agree that all kids should learn science, even if they don't plan to be scientists, I'm not sure I would have been convinced to take chemistry just to do a better job keeping house.

Science is very useful not only to a child who wants to be a scientist in the future. It can be helpful in our daily lives like recognizing some changes in the body when someone reaches puberty, the changes in nature and environment, or even the changes that occur on the food that we eat. Not only that, in science fair projects, children learn how to solve problems in a step-by-step manner with a positive result. They can only not learn but they can also enjoy putting up some projects like PicoTurbine Windmill. Parents should never get tired of teaching and supporting their child when it comes to useful interests like science.
